The short version
Two kids from LA who never stopped being hungry.
We're Peter and Lisa, married, born and raised in Los Angeles, and lucky enough to call the San Gabriel Valley home. We started filming our weekend meals so we wouldn't forget them. Then strangers started showing up to the same restaurants, and it became the best hobby we've ever had.
Lisa
- The creative one. Keeper of the boba leaderboard.
- Can tell you which SGV bakery to hit based on the day of the week.
- Dream: a flower shop that sells boba and has a nail salon in it. (We're serious.)
Peter
- Hoops-obsessed marathon runner.
- On a mission to see a game in every NBA arena and rate the food at each one.
How we got here
Our story, year by year.
It began.
We started dating this year, back when neither of us had any idea that a plate of food and a camera would eventually turn into a whole career.
We got married.
We tied the knot at the San Gabriel Hilton, right in the neighborhood that would later become the whole point of everything we film.
The channel was born.
The Peter & Lisa Kim YouTube channel went live. Our first video ever was a blind taste test, and we'll give you fair warning now: it's rough. Genuinely, don't watch it.
We became YouTube Partners.
The channel got monetized, and we celebrated the milestone on a hike in Hawaii, our happy place then and now.
10,000 subscribers, and eatinsgv.com goes live.
We hit 10,000 subscribers and launched v1 of eatinsgv.com, the new home for our full San Gabriel Valley restaurant guide.
How we operate
Three rules we don't break.
Honest, not harsh
Our goal is to tell you whether a spot is right for you and your trip, not just whether we personally loved it. There are places we wouldn't go back to ourselves, but we'd rather point you toward what's great than dwell on what wasn't for us.
Community first
The SGV's small, family-run spots made us who we are. Sending them customers is the whole point.
Fun is the format
Food videos, arena quests, race medals: if it stops being fun, we'll stop filming it.
Beyond the plate
The other things we build and back.
Chili Oil Gang
Our independent chili oil review site, with honest takes on the jars, brands, and flavors we try. It is a review site, not a store.
chilioilgang.com โEatin' SGV
The full restaurant guide: every list, review, and neighborhood deep-dive we've made about the 626.
eatinsgv.com โCauses we support
Project Alive and the fight to cure Hunter syndrome, St. Jude, Team for Climate, CHIRLA, and Russell Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation.
Meet the causes โA quick thank you.
We genuinely appreciate everyone who watches, comments, and shares, and especially everyone who's ever come up to say hi when they've spotted us out at a restaurant or a race. That's easily one of the best parts of doing this. So please, if you see us around, come say hi.
