Why we run, film, and fundraise
The causes behind our miles.
We're not asking you for anything on this page. These are the organizations we personally give our money, our race bibs, and our platform to, and the people who made each one matter to us.
Skyler & Ollie.
Skyler and Oliver "Ollie" Chu are brothers from California living with Hunter syndrome (MPS II), a rare genetic condition that affects roughly 1 in 100,000 boys. Skyler, the big brother, was diagnosed as a toddler. They're the reason this cause stopped being an abstract "rare disease" for us and became two kids we love.
Here's the hope: in February 2025, Ollie became the first person in the world to receive a groundbreaking gene therapy for Hunter syndrome, one that can actually reach the brain. A year later, his doctors say he's developing normally. The BBC followed his story for over a year. The dream now is for Skyler, and every child like him, to get the same chance.
Project Alive.
Project Alive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by families, for families, working to cure Hunter syndrome through research and advocacy. Because the disease is so rare (roughly 500 boys in the US), research funding doesn't come easily, and small communities like ours can genuinely move the needle. If you're going to give somewhere because of us, give here.
Where our race bibs and donations go
The rest of the list.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
We ran the Rock 'n' Roll Washington DC Half Marathon with St. Jude Heroes and raised $600, thanks to our friends and supporters. St. Jude leads the fight to end childhood cancer, and families never receive a bill. Ever.
NYRR Team for Climate
Peter ran the United Airlines NYC Half with NYRR's Team for Climate, fundraising to offset and reduce the carbon footprint of the races themselves. Running across all 50 states means a lot of flights; this is one way we try to give some of that back.
CHIRLA
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights has spent four decades serving immigrant families in Los Angeles. The neighborhoods we film in, and the family-run restaurants we love, are immigrant stories. Supporting CHIRLA is supporting the community that made us.
Russell Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation
We've donated to Russell Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation before, which works to break the cycle of poverty through education, health and wellness, and community support. A natural fit for a couple that built a whole side quest around NBA arenas.
One honest note.
We have no financial relationship with any organization on this page. Nobody paid to be here, and nothing here earns us a commission. We just think they're worth your attention.
