Worth the drive outside the 626.

Our SGV guides live at Eat in SGV. These are the places outside the SGV we thought were worth the drive, from LA food markets to Orange County sushi. Every page tells you what we ordered, what it cost, and anything we were given for free.

Rodeo72 Whittier Food Guide: What We’d Order Again

Rodeo72 is a Whittier food hall where we found a steak dinner we’d happily come back for, Peruvian food with seriously good garlic rice, and enough different options to make a group meal easy. We first went at night, then liked it enough to return during the day. Primal Cuts and The Inka Spot ended up tied for our favorites. Here’s what we ate and how we’d put together a visit.

LAFC Game Food: What to Eat at BMO Stadium

We’ve eaten our way through three LAFC games: regular concessions in April 2026, Founders Club in October 2026, and North End Terrace in September 2025. The games were the highlight. We found some food we’d get again and some we’d skip. Here’s what we tried, what it cost, and how the food changes with your ticket.

Haidilao

Is Haidilao Worth It? Our Honest Review, Price Per Person, and How the US Compares to China

Haidilao is one of the biggest hot pot chains in the world, with more than 1,400 restaurants, and its first US location sits at Westfield Santa Anita in Arcadia. We went for a full dinner, ordered off the iPad, raided the sauce bar, and got the dancing noodle twice. The short answer: yes, it's worth it as a splurge. Our bill for four came to $290.78 with tax, or about $73 each before tip. It's the fanciest hot pot we've had in the US, but it's a polished restaurant with a show here, not the all-out experience Haidilao is famous for in China.

Grand Central Market

Breakfast at Grand Central Market: What Opens Early and What We'd Order (2026 Update)

Most people think of Grand Central Market as a lunch spot, but the market opens at 8 AM every day, and that first hour is the best time to be there. We did a full breakfast crawl on a Sunday morning: coffee, Eggslut, a lox and egg bagel, a $5 taco the size of a burrito, candy for later, and a ride on Angels Flight across the street. We filmed it in February 2022 and checked every stall again in October 2026. Most of it is still there. Wexler's Deli, where we got the bagel, is not.

How to Take the Train from Union Station to Santa Monica (2026 Update)

You can get from Union Station in downtown LA to the Santa Monica Pier by train for $1.75, with one transfer and no traffic. We did it in July 2021: we parked at Union Station, took the subway to 7th St/Metro Center, and rode the light rail to the end of the line in Santa Monica, a short walk from the pier. Metro has renamed both lines since then and opened a new downtown connector, so we rewrote this guide for how the trip works today and kept our own notes from the ride.

Smorgasburg LA 2026: Cambodian Sausage, Catfish Bites, and Banana Pudding at ROW DTLA

Smorgasburg LA is the Sunday food market at ROW DTLA, with small vendors from all over Southern California. We went back in 2026 for the new stalls, ate our way through six of them, and kept track of every price so you know what a day here really costs.

What to Eat at a Clippers Game at Intuit Dome: Best Food, Prices, and the All-You-Can-Eat Lounge

We go to a lot of Clippers games, and we've filmed the food at Intuit Dome three times: the grab-and-go concessions in its first season, the all-you-can-eat lounge that comes with floor seats, and the new menu items for 2025-26. The short answer: get the double smash burger, the LA street dog, or the chicken tenders with waffle fries, and buy the $10 refillable cup. Most of the newer items were just okay for the price. Here's everything we tried, what it cost, and how the arena's checkout-free system works.
